The women-only dating safety app Tea has suffered a catastrophic data breach, with hackers leaking over 72,000 private images, government IDs, and direct messages. The unsecured database was discovered on 4chan, leading to the rapid spread of sensitive user data across decentralized platforms.

Tea's backend was completely unprotected—no passwords, no encryption. The 59.3 GB dump included verification selfies, IDs dated as recently as 2025, and private communications. This directly contradicts the company's claim that only "old data" was compromised.

Once propagated through BitTorrent and automated scrapers, the data became permanently accessible. The breach represents a complete failure for an app that marketed itself as a safe space for women, now exposing its entire user base to potential exploitation.
